Transit Takes on Bigger Role at Palace

Hampton Court, the centuries old palace in Richmond upon Thames, London is as grand as palaces can get. Open to the public, it is considered one of the biggest tourist attractions for many. Hosting the highly successful Hampton Court Palace Flower Show every year and employing vast amounts of gardeners to keep the grounds in tip top condition, the palace is a hive of activity.

As part of its growing empire the need has come for extra vehicles and what better choice is there than the Ford Transit? The Estates Operations manager for the Historic Royal Palaces has said with regards to four new members of Transits joining the Palace ‘Three are being used by members of the 44 full-time gardening staff for general gardens and estate operations, including landscaping work and maintenance, and the other is used to provide stock to our retail outlets at the Tower of London, Hampton Court and Kensington Palace. We chose the Transit because of its ready availability and ease of maintenance’.

The new Transit Vans which are due to be added to the already existing small fleet of transits at the Palace will certainly be useful to the gardeners when it comes to maintaining the 60 acres of formal gardens. These are set in a further 750 acres of Royal parkland that provide the beautiful setting for the Hampton Court Palace.

All the vans have been liveried in the distinctive colours of the Hampton Court Palace and will be seen driving in and around the city of London in no time.

Things to consider when buying a used van

Buying a van can be a mine field especially when it’s a second hand one that you are looking for. Whilst everyone looks at certain things when they buy a new van, this all becomes increasingly more important when looking at a used van. There can be many pitfalls to buying second hand and whilst there are also some major bonuses, you need to make sure you pick up a gem. The only way you can do that is to do research, plan, be clear on what you want and have a set budget in mind. Used Commercial Vans will have had various different owners, wear and tear and a history that is often hard to see.

Whether it’s a Ford Transit Connect or any other van, it is important to invest the time looking carefully to make sure it’s what you want and what you expect for the money you are spending. If you are not that confident at looking thoroughly at a van yourself, try and find someone you know that will have a better idea of what should be looked at.

One of the biggest decisions you’ll need to make is whether you buy privately or through the trade. Buying your van from a dealership, especially a well known one will generally give you much more peace of mind than buying off a stranger. You’ll also find that the van will come with a warranty, even a second hand one, so you can take it in if there are any problems once you’ve driven off the forecourt.

Ford in Electric Car Partnership

Ford motor cars are moving even further into the electric car market. The American motor company has just created a partnership with Portland General Electric to further enhance its progression into this very new and competitive market.

The main concept of this partnership is for the two companies to work together in designing and implementing a charging network within the Oregon area.  The Portland General Electric Company have been at the forefront of this industry for some time and only last month opened the countries first quick charge station, with this in mind Ford have been quick to start this partnership and utilise both companies resources.

Mike Tinskey, manager of Vehicle Electrification and Infrastructure at Ford has spoken about the partnership saying “To support the roll out and acceptance of these vehicles it is important to work with local utilities to make sure the necessary infrastructure and grid capabilities are ready”.

Ford has been quoted as saying that it will be bringing five new electric cars to the market within the next two years. So with this in mind we can be assured of seeing Ford EV Vehicles on UK roads long before we first thought possible. Should you be searching for New Cars Taunton at the moment with the industry advancing so fast you may soon be searching for New Electric cars in Taunton with just as much ease.

So in the very near future when you buy a New Ford Taunton you will undoubtedly be choosing between electric and the traditional types of vehicle depending on your views and budget.

Converting a Van

These days you can’t drive anywhere without seeing a New Commercial Van on the road. They are being used for all manner of things and whilst commercial use is as big as it has ever been for a van: whether that’s in the gardening trade, plumbing industry, painting and decorating or catering services to name but a few, vans have now become popular with private use too. Some vans have even gained cult status such as the Ford Transit.

With recycling and waste becoming increasingly more contentious in neighbourhoods, a need for a van can call on most of us every once in a while to do a ‘tip run’. But Vans are used for much more extravagant things now. Have you ever considered living in one for instance?

It may seem a little far fetched and highly impractical to most but you’d be surprised how many do. Especially those that are more inclined to be travelling, whether that’s following the surf around Europe for the summer or simply moving around frequently for work it certainly is a good way to keep costs down and whilst you don’t have immediate hook up to electricity and waste, there are various means of dealing with this.

People have come up with some ingenious ideas to convert their van into a liveable space. Incorporating a bed, storage, a kitchen area and often even a bathroom area you’d be amazed what can be done in a small space with a little creativity and some ability to compromise and adapt.  So, if you fancy a bit of a project and think you could benefit from having a van converted then check out a whole host of ideas online, but I would suggest you hold off on selling your house, for now.

4 Tips when looking at a Used Van for sale

Four considerations when looking at Used Vans for Sale:

  1. Pricing. Make sure you do your research before going to look at a van to ensure that the price they are asking for meets the average sale cost for the van’s age and mileage. You don’t want to be paying any more than you should and be wary of anything lower than the average as there will probably be a good reason.
  1. Wish List. It is a good idea to write down all the features you would like from your Used Commercial Vans. Air conditioning, power assisted steering, electric windows, mirrors, CD Player etc. This way you can have a better idea when looking at a van whether it’s going to be right for you.
  1. Mileage, brakes, engine, gearbox and tyres are then the most important parts to look at when you go to see the van. Whilst testing driving (which is a must) check the mileage. Look at the log book to match up the mileage and if you think the clock has been tampered with steer clear. Brake discs should be checked to see what wear they have had. If they look like they need replacing then a negotiation on price could be agreed. Similarly, if the tyres look worn or even bald then this will be an additional cost on top of the sale price of the van. The gears should move smoothly from one to the next, always check how easy it is to get into reverse too.
  1. Engine: Check the oil levels, look for any leaking and make sure there is anti freeze in it. Also, if possible test drive the van when it is cold, that way it will really show any flaws it might have.

Choosing a Child Car Seat For Your Ford Car

Ford has always had a very high safety standard with many special security and safety features fitted into every car. Baby care is certainly no exception as the child seat manufacturer Britax have recently awarded the Ford Focus C-Max its first ever 4 star child protection award.

The 4 star award for child protection and safety is a very important award for not only buyers but Ford associates alike as the test comprises of some of the most demanding marking criteria in Europe. You can now feel safe in the knowledge that Ford are working towards ensuring the safety of your children is paramount the moment you purchase a car from any of their showrooms including a Ford Focus Dorset dealer.

It is imperative you regard your children’s safety within your car with high importance. With this in mind it is crucial that you choose the correct child car seat and do as much research before you buy.  One of the first things to research is exactly how long your child will be travelling in your car, for example if it is only for short journeys then a lightweight option might be the best suitable approach. Babies should always be fitted into a rear facing seat until they weigh just over 9kgs and can sit up unaided.

In the past fitting a child car seat has been difficult to fit within some smaller cars but with Fords emphasis on safety you can be assured that the most popular child car seats are available to be fitted the moment you purchase a Ford Ka Poole.

Thieves don’t do Pink

It would seem that even thieves have some sense. Not enough to stop thieving unfortunately, but enough to know what might draw more attention than they want and that could be to steal a car that has, let’s say, a rather bold appearance.

Researchers in the Netherlands had been following newly sold cars from 2004-2008 and found that, of the 109 pink cars that were sold, not one had been stolen in four years whilst a large number of other coloured cars had been stolen. The cars that were stolen tended to be more conventional colours like silver, black and white. In fact, Black seemed to be the most popular colour to steal followed by silver/gray and then white.

Perhaps a pink Ford Focus Taunton just doesn’t cut it in the underworld or maybe they think that black has a more desirable professional, luxurious look. Or it could just be that they know if they are careering down the motorway at high speeds following the theft, a pink car is going to stand out far more than a subtle colour. In a high speed chase, the police will certainly have the upper hand following a pink car.

Next time you are on your local forecourt like Taunton Ford, it would be interesting to find out how many bold colours are sold each year, you may also want give them this handy research finding as it could be a sales tool for them when they get to do their pitch next.

Ford to drop Prices

From the beginning of August, Ford is reportedly dropping the prices on all of its small and medium cars. This bold venture follows the car manufacturer’s price drop of its large vehicles back in April.

The lowering of the recommended list prices not only helps car showrooms but also reduce P11 tax liabilities for its drivers.  This move has pleased Ford partners and has shown that Ford is leading the market by applying this initiative across its car network all around the country from its Ford Dealership Taunton to its central London showrooms.

Ford has followed these trends with great interest since they reduced large vehicle prices earlier in the year and hope to follow them into the smaller car market. Promotions from March this year have already included a 15% price reduction and have helped to boost the sale of new cars this year in the critical months. The price reduction was such a success that it was immediately carried through to the entire Ford car range.

Many Ford car dealers have been expressing feelings that the consumer is feeling confused with high recommended list prices matched to high discounts. Ford has been working continuously with their dealer partners to ensure that the Ford car purchase process is made more transparent and that the cars value remains a great factor.  With this in mind customers can now experience a Ford car at a fantastic price from reputed dealers such as the Taunton Ford dealership and enjoy peace of mind and the best value for money possible.

Another action being sanctioned at the same time as the price reductions on large Ford cars is the reduction of Dealer prices to support its dealer’s networks, this process called ‘Blue tag pricing’  completes the companies actions throughout its entire car range.
