Are you currently looking into options for your new car?  Shopping for a new car can be a difficult process.  You do not want to get stuck with a car that you do not like.  Cars are not something that can be easily returned.  Therefore, it is important to do some reason before you make the big decision.  One decision many people contemplate is whether they want to purchase a pickup truck or a van.  This is a common decision among individuals that need to transport things.  Here are some of the strengths and weaknesses of each type of car.  Hopefully that will allow you to determine which option is best for you.

Pick Up

The pickup truck is a unique vehicle that has an open cargo bed.  This car is often bigger than most cars and is known to be ideal for those working typical blue-collar jobs.  There are several large pickup trucks and some smaller ones like the Ford Ranger.  The front of the car has a small seating area.  It was not built for driving, rather for storage.  Many people that need to haul a lot of items prefer trucks.  It is great for transportation jobs that require the individuals to carry heavy materials.  In addition, it works well in the construction industry.    One of the reasons many people prefer trucks is because they are durable.  This is probably why they have a more masculine connotation compared to other vehicles.  However, it is important to realize that these vehicles do not offer great mileage.  In today’s economy with rising gas prices, this is a concern for many people.

Vans are another option for your automobile choice.  There are a variety of different people that can benefit from vans.  These cars are larger and do have substantial space for storage.  However, many times the seats get in the way and you have to take them in and out of the car for you storing needs.  It is not always as easy to “throw” things in and out of the vehicle.  However, if you have items that are more perishable, a van might be preferred.  The covering of the vehicle will offer the desired protection for your valuables.   In addition, a van will definitely get better gas mileage.  Thus, if it makes sense, using a van for your travels might be the way to go.  Take a test drive and see what you think!
