Van sales in August bounce back

Figures released by the SMMT (The society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) have shown that van registrations have increased by almost 23% in August. Van sales took a slight dip in July due to the financial and economic climate, but for many Augusts rise shows a healthy increase.

The chief executive of the SMTT commented on the current commercial vehicle sales market remarking, “With the commercial vehicle market up by over 20% for the year to date, the industry is optimistic, but short to medium term economic uncertainty is likely to temper the rate of future growth.”

The head of the SMMT also commented that the return in growth is a sign that commercial van operators have began settling back into normal operations and procedures such as vehicle replacement packages. August is usually a below average sales month due to many companies and individuals holding off any new purchases until September. September is of course lower as it is the month that new number plates are released, historically van sales for that period count for only 5% of the yearly amount.

4×4 and pickup truck sales increased and grew by 36% to 809; vans under 2 tonnes slowly increased by 2% and vehicles that weighed between 2 and 2.5 tonnes have increased sales by 52%.

As many companies continue tightening their belts and looking for great offers, many opt for a great deal on the UK’s most popular van ‘The Ford Transit’. Available in a variety of wheelbase sizes the Transit van offers both power and value for money to those seeking to upgrade anytime of the year.
