Ferrari Cars and a New Classic

Ferrari, the luxury Italian sports car company, was founded by the engineer Enzo Ferrari in 1929, as ‘Scuderia Ferrari’. Enzo Ferrari’s primary interest was motor racing and today the names Ferrari and Scuderia are synonymous with the motor racing world around the globe.

The Ferrari car debuted at the now famous 1940 ‘Mille Miglia’ race but, due to World War II, the car saw little competition during this period of time. Enzo never started out to build road going cars, but due to diminishing funds and financial reasons, he succumbed to the idea of road cars as a way to bring much needed income to fund his beloved Scuderia.

So, 1947 saw the first Ferrari road car to bare the famous name. It was the 125 S, which was powered by a V12, 1.5litre engine; this was the start of one of the most famous prestigious road going sports car marques in the world. Today, the Ferrari story is not too different; Ferrari is the most successful team in Formula 1 racing history and has raced in every Grand Prix world championship since 1950.

Ferrari still produces some of the most beautiful luxury sports cars and supercars in the world. The current Ferrari 458 Italia is testament to this, as it has won many awards and accolades; it has clearly left the company’s competitors in its wake and many in the sports supercar industry use the Ferrari 458 Italia as a benchmark.
