With only ten days to go everyone who has booked their ticket and taken the time off work are getting increasingly excited and it’s no wonder: The biggest and best Ford festival in Europe, which is held at our very own Silverstone circuit, is due back again. On Sunday 8th August everyone who loves Ford, from avid workers at Ford Dealer Taunton who will be there to keep up with the current trends and passions, to the guys who aspire to have the very best modified car, will be taking their time at the festival and making sure they don’t miss anything. And there is a lot to see:
There’s the ‘Ford Only Action’ on the racetrack which means that for a small fee you can get to race around the track in a Ford car. The Ford Fair Concours offer you a chance to see the very best of modified Fords from the Sierra, Sapphire, Escort Cosworth to the Ford Focus Taunton. There is of course the Ford Fair where all visitors get a chance to have a thorough look around at all the imaginable products, parts and adaptions you can get for virtually all the Ford makes and models.
There will be over 3,500 Fords on display and all Fords are welcome. Everything from the very latest performance and modified cars to the immaculately restored classics, this Ford Fair really is a sight for sore eyes. News from the US has given Porsche dealers plenty of reason to celebrate recently after it was announced that Porsche has been voted the world’s most beautiful car brand. Voters in the US voted the iconic brand as the most beautiful for an amazing sixth year in a row.
In the surveys list of most beautiful cars Porsche scored highly with the Gran Tourismo Panamera and the Porsche 911, which ranked second and third respectively. In the category ‘Premium Sporty Car’ the 911 came out top once again for the second year in a row.
The Apeal study (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) questions around 82,000 new car owners annually to determine what is attractive to the American market.
Porsche topped the brand rankings with an impressive 877 points out of 1,000 beating the second place brand Jaguar by 23 points and the third place BMW by 31. The rest of the top 10 were Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Audi, Lexus Acura, Lincoln and Cadillac.
The Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG said “The key to our consistent top performance are the continual advancements and quality improvements to our vehicles. Porsche’s outstanding ranking in the JD Power is a clear indication that our work is honoured by customers. The excellent overall results, including the very good cut for the Panamera, which made it to second place on its first go around, are the result of our persistent customer-orientation”.
Porsche Dealership is expecting a rush of customers to snap up these beautiful cars after this recent announcement.
Well it’s that time of year again, the suns out, the skies are blue and everyone is that little bit happier. Its summer and as you drive around in your oh so sensible car, others are driving around in the car of their dreams, roof down, soaking up the sun and enjoying the fresh breeze blowing through their hair.
I suggest, as we only live once, that you get yourself down to your nearest Porsche Dealership and take a look at what soft tops they have available and you too could be one of those lucky people we all look at in envy over the summer months. Of course, a decent soft top will set you back but the benefits will far outweigh the negatives.

Bentley fans everywhere will be pleased to hear about the unveiling for two new Bentleys for the Chinese market. Unfortunately these great cars won’t be available in and UK based Bentley Dealers for now.
These new stylish additions have been designed exclusively for the Chinese market with a special emphasis on a sleek new looking 3 tone interior which creates a stunning visual impact. This artistic approach is apparent in details like the seat belts, floor mats and even on the fine stitching on the steering wheel.
Both cars, the Continental GT Design series China and the Continental Flying Spur Speed China have both been unveiled to the Chinese market at the Auto China Motor Show which started on the April 23rd.
You will also find additional luxury provided by Bentley. In the back of the car you will find custom leather cushions for rear passengers which have been embroidered with the Bentley logo on them.
This exclusive release to China may have something to do with the Chinese market being the third most important to Bentley. Since entering the Chinese market in 2002 sales have grown ten fold in just seven years.

It’s not the real van it is a replica model that looks pretty good. You would be hard pushed to spot the difference between the original and this one. You probably won’t be able to pull half of the stunts seen in the show or the van won’t last more than a week. But feel free to cruise around the town looking to right wrongs and save and distressed young maidens from the clutches of an evil drug baron or power hungry, gun happy businessman that wants to rule to the town.
If like me you are always keen to see a vintage car or two that has stood the test of time before lavish design and technology played a part in the way in which we view cars, than you might have seen the NEC Classic Motor Show.
The show featured a whole host of classic cars that have been restored to the highest standards. Amateurs and professionals alike visited the show in their thousands to meet more like minded people that share their passion for cars.
A popular draw at the event was the appearance of television celebrities Mike Brewer and Edd China who host the Wheeler Dealers television show. Their ‘cheeky chappy’ banter amused and entertained the crowds with their live events that people flocked to see.
The Classic Car show also featured some of the most luxurious and desirable motor cars from around the world. Fully restored classic motors, vintage sports cars and well maintained luxurious machines were all on display for the public to see. The great aspect of this show was the ability to really get close to the cars and see the intense level of detail. Custom paint jobs, modifications and the little things that make the cars that little bit more individual are there for inspections. Allowing you to see the character of the individual that is restoring the car in the work they have done.
Yet, it’s not just the cars that people come to see. The show always features a broad range of enthusiasts that have a passion for motors. It’s these people (and you) that drive (no pun intended) the industry to show such great support for these classic cars and their owners. With the continuously evolving motor industry there will always be a passion for the classic and retro cars that are highly sought after of yesteryear.
